Indian Government has announced the Padma Awards (three categories — Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri) for the year 2014 Today. As many as 126 prominent personalities will be honoured with Padma Awards
this year. Out of them 27 have been Women and this figure is the highest until now. Renowned scientist RA Mashelkar: Padma Vibhushan.
Kamal Haasan: Padma Bhushan.
Paresh Rawal: Padma Shri.
Yuvraj Singh: Padma Shri.
Justice J S Verma who headed the committee that recommended landmark changes to India’s anti-rape law following the Delhi bus gangrape
and murder will be conferred with Padma Award this year.
Rationalist and author Narendra Achyut Dabholkar, who was shot dead in Pune in August 2013 will also receive the honour.
